Barcelona may have won La Liga twice in two seasons, but they continue to look for opportunities to grow and develop into a more dominant side.

They are eyeing blockbuster player signings this summer to address key areas in the squad, but changes are actively being eyed on other fronts, too.

If reports from ARA are to be believed, Barcelona are even looking to sign a new fitness coach for next season to aid the team’s physical preparation. After all, Hansi Flick’s style of play demands a lot of the players, and the manager has put in a request for an addition.

Two options considered

The idea of bringing in a new fitness coach is to ensure that the team does not suffer from injuries at critical points in the season, as they did even last season with Raphinha and Pedri suffering from fitness troubles.

One option the Catalans are actively considering is Oliver Bartlett, who has worked before with Hansi Flick in the German national team. Most recently, he was working with Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, but is now out of contract and available.

Holger Broich is the second candidate whose name is on Barcelona’s list, and he too brings good experience under his belt as he was the former fitness coach for Bayern Munich.

What will happen to Julio Tous?

Julio Tous currently serves as Barcelona’s head of physical preparation, and the arrival of a new fitness coach is not expected to change his role in any sense.

Hansi Flick trusts the mainstay and has no intention of letting him go, even if a new member arrives on the coaching team. In fact, Tous may even renew his contract with Barcelona for two to three seasons.

Tous currently works with three coaches under him: Pep Conde, Rafa Maldonado, and German Fernandez. Another senior addition, needless to say, will go a long way.
